I am a Professor of Political Science and Chair in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. My research in U.S. politics focuses on the behavior of political party activists as well as the relationship between political parties, donors, and women’s political candidacy. At UMW I teach courses in American politics, including Congress, U.S. Federal Judiciary, and Gender & Politics. I also teach courses that are geared to first year students, including a first year seminar on U.S. Campaigns & Elections. In addition, I am affiliated faculty with the UMW Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. Since 2016, I have served as an Expert Contributor to the Center for American Women in Politics (CAWP) Election Watch programs at Rutgers University.
